Biography:

Nils Marquardt was born in 1982 and grew up on the German island Rügen.

With the age of four years he started his musical education which carried him 1998 from alto horn and tenor horn finally to Trombone.

From 1998 on Nils Marquardt received musical education under the direction of prof. Harry Lehmann at conservatory of Rostock. He delegated him 2002 as young protégé to classical trombone studies at University for Music and Theatre Rostock. At the same time he got musical education from Sören Fischer, Dan Gottshall and Chris Fidler. From 2004 till 2006 he studied at the University for Music “Hanns Eisler” Berlin and from 2006 till 2009 at Berlin institute for Jazz. There he studied jazz trombone under the direction of prof. Jiggs Whigham, prof. Malte Burba and prof. Ludwig Nuss.

For his further passion, the drums, Nils got an education parallel to the trombone and studied them between 2005 and 2008 as minor field of study also at Berlin institute for Jazz.

In addition to his various concerts as trombonist, Nils Marquardt works as tutor in several trombone and jazz workshops and as teacher.

Nils is married and lives with his wife in Berlin.
